Southbank

Yesterday I took the children to the Southbank. It's a regular haunt for us because there is so much vibe there to soak up and so many places to hang out and enjoy. You are always guaranteed a good time and it was no different on our last visit.

We rocked up at about lunchtime, took the bus which the boys always love. When we got there there was a brass band playing! So instantly we were engaged. We wandered up to the Royal Festival Hall for loo visits and the children had a little run around in the hall which was getting set up for a free piano concerto!

The weather was awesome and the boys couldn't wait to see the boats so we boat spotted for a while by the river before feasting at Wagamamas. The food there is so good and so reasonably priced, it was perfect. Energised we strolled along the waterfront and were so excited to see a beach! On the Southbank? What!!! It was so genius. Sand and stools over looking the water, while the sun was beating down? The boys had a field day. It was totally unexpected. But that is what makes this place so perfect for a family day out. you never know what you are going to experience.

The carousel, the entertainers, the London Eye all served as a gorgeous backdrop feeding the senses as we strolled along. The green spaces near the Aquarium (go see the fishes!) gave us the perfect opportunity to just chill out and relax while taking in all the scenery.

We rounded up the day by checking out the National Theatre where we had tea and cake. Obviously the boys took full advantage of the surroundings here. Climbing on the carefully designed rocks outside the building and playing hide and seek; overlooked by three hilarious fully made up clowns sitting cross legged on a bench whilst supping lattes! Only in London I'm sure!

Giraffe proved the best place to have supper. the boys were each given balloons as they awaited their pasta and garlic bread with baited breadth. It was soooooo easy! Well, as easy as it can be with two three year olds! But we had loads of fun.

Boredom is not an option on the Southbank. It has everything you need for the perfect day out.

Waterloo is the closest station but the walk along the Southbank can take you to the Pirate boats and onwards to the Tate Modern. So you can combine fun with culture, food with entertainment and you can always find a place to relax.

The Southbank is a must to enjoy London.
