The Itch of the Golden Nit - created by children for children

Trafalgar Square - Saturday 23rd July. Admission Free!!!

In 2010 The Tate Modern, through a massive collaboration across Britain, managed to extract ideas, drawings and creative concepts from over 500 children to create a feature film entitled The Itch with the Golden Nit.

The animated characters drawn by the children were brought to life by the team behind Wallace and Grommit and their voices are being portrayed by the likes of Miranda Hart, David Waliiams, Rik Mayall, Jane Horrocks, Harry Enfield, Vic Reeves and many more of our favourite Brtish stars.

The story seems to be based around a golden nit who powers the sun but is then suddenly kidnapped, plunging the universe into danger! The nit escapes, landing on the head of our hero Beanie and a whole host of adventures and escapades follow with a plethora of engaging characters who attempt to save the world.

There will also be workshops, which you may have to book on the day, like:

  • How To: hear from animators from Aardman Animations, illustrators and stars from CBBC including Nev the Bear and Kirsten O’Brien.
  • Now Do: visit the Tate Movie Project truck, to take part in hands-on animation workshops with the team.
  • Green Screen: Drop by the ‘green screen’ area and see yourself in the magical world of the movie.
  • Sound Booth – Create your own sound effects and voiceovers to the film at the sound booth truck.
So if you fancy taking the little ones to an open air cinema screening, this could be the one.
If the weather is good, we'll be there.

Enjoy

Mama xx
